highlights:
Glorious Day is THE Easter song. As I’ve said before, I’m not a huge fan of holiday specific tunes, but this one is an exception. Easter is a BIG deal for Christians. Had not Jesus died and rose again, we would have no hope (1 Peter 1:3-5). Through Him, we celebrate the hope of new life and peace with God (Romans 5:1-3). Shouting is often associated with celebration in my mind so Glorious Day just makes sense. The song is a “shouter.” Yep, a “SHOUTER” (seriously, just listen to it or better yet watch the music video and you’ll see what I mean).
The upbeat tone of the song inspires the church to celebrate our hope. Most church songs today are reflective and Adagio tempo. There are very few that get people moving (which is a big reason why I wrote There Is Hope) so it’s refreshing to have a song, like Glorious Day, that reminds us to celebrate. Apart from the song’s tone, the lyrics are spot on! They express our deadness apart from Jesus and our new life in Him.
We sang this song at all three of our Easter services this past weekend and EVERYONE belted the words out. It was a party weekend, for sure.
