highlights:
Only King Forever is ALWAYS a highlight for me. The song is so anthem-atic (yes, I totally made that word up). The lyrics and feel of the song really energize our church; kind of like how a “we will rock you” chant energizes a crowd at a sports game. The bridge lyrics are probably my favorite in the song:
We lift our banner high
We lift the name of Jesus
From age to age You reign
Your kingdom has no end
I love those words! Our singing lifts the banner and name of Jesus; it gives Him the glory. We aren’t singing or gathered for ourselves; we’re in church, and beyond that, in this world for the glory of Jesus. We are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:16-21). As such, we are further His glory and kingdom throughout the earth.
Glorious Day and There Is Hope were also highlights for me. These two songs gave us something to shout about after getting energized from Only King Forever. Continuing with the sports team analogy, if Only King Forever was our “energizer” then Glorious Day and There Is Hope were the subsequent “points” scored by our team. I’m not sure if that makes sense to you, but it does to me! We praised our King for calling us from darkness of our sin and to His glorious light of His salvation (1 Peter 2:9-10), and celebrated the hope we have as a result of His sacrifice.
Overall, it was a great morning of celebration. Loved every minute.
